1. EAM Jaishankar to participate in BRICS meeting 

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar joined his counterparts from the BRICS nations in a joint video conference on 28 April 2020.
The Meeting was held to brainstorm ways in which the countries can cooperate to tackle the
COVID -19 pandemic. The BRICS countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The Video conference was hosted by Russia. 



2.Day for Safety and Health at Work: 28 April

World Dy for safety and Health at work is observed on 28 April every year. The day emphasises on the prevention of accidents and diseases at the workplace. It was first observed by the International Labour Organisation in 2003. The theme of the World Day for Safety and Health at work 2020 stops the pandemic.



3. Hubble telescope's 30th Anniversary

In 2020, the Hubble Space Telescope achieved its 30th year in orbit. Hubble's unique design, allowing it to be repaired and upgraded with advanced technology by astronauts, has made it one of NASA's longest-living and most valuable observatories. Throughout the year, NASA will celebrate the many ways that Hubble has brought the universe home to Earth, with special events.



4.RBI announced special liquidity facility 

The Reserve Bank of India announced an Rs.50,000 crore special liquidity facility for the mutual fund, days after Franklin Templeton mutual fund decided to close six debt schemes. Heightened volatility in capital markets in reaction to COVID-19 has imposed liquidity strains on mutual funds (MFs).
The stress is, however, confined to the high-risk debt MF segment at this stage.



5. India gifted Bangladesh anti-malarial tablets 

India has gifted one lakh anti-malarial tablets of hydroxychloroquine and 50,000 surgical gloves to Bangladesh. This is help Bangladesh combat the coronavirus pandemic which has infected nearly 500 people and killed over 100 in the country. India's High commissioner Riva Ganguly Das handed over the supplies to Health Minister Zahid Malik.



6.G20 launches Access to COVID-19 tools Accelerator' Initiative 

On April 26, 2020, the group of 20 (G20) launched “Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator”, an international initiative to accelerate development, production, and access to health tools needed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia




7.India's holding of US govt securities hits high record of USD 177.5 bn in Feb: US Treasury Dept

On April 26, 2020, According to the latest data from the United States (US) Treasury Department (dep) India’s holding of US government (govt) securities has gone up by over USD 13 billion (bn) in a month to a record high of USD 177.5 bn at the end of February, since November 2019, the country has slowly climbed to USD  159.2 bn.



8. Asian Development Banks approves $1.5 billion USD to India to Combat COVID-19

On 28th April 2020, The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the loan of 1.5 Billion USD (Rs.11,400 crore) to India to fund the actions to take against the novel coronavirus pandemic like to support disease containment and prevention and social protection for the poor and working-class population who are in vulnerable economic condition.



9. First black hole merger of uneven massed observed by LIGO-VIRGO; indicated by GW190412 signal in April 2019

On April 18, 2020, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Laboratory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration is also known as LVC (LIGO Scientific Collaboration and Virgo Collaboration)discovered binary black hole (BBH) merger with different masses for the first time. This study has been published in preprint server ArXiv.



10. Former Liverpool striker Michael Robinson passed away at 61

On April 28, 2020, Former Republic of Ireland and Liverpool forward footballer Michael John Robinson passed away at the age of 61 in Marbella, Spain. He was born on July 12, 1958, in Leicester, England.
