1. Prakash Javadekar participates in 1st virtual 11th session of Petersberg climate Dialogue 2020

On April 28, 2020, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar participates in 1st virtual which is 11th session of Petersberg Climate Dialogue 2020 along with 30 other countries representatives & ministers.




2.EAM Jaishankar participated in BRICS FMs' virtual meet on COVID-19; $15 mn loan support set up by BRICS

On April 28, 2020, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Foreign Ministers meeting on coronavirus was held through video conferencing, which was opened by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. It should be noted that Russia is the Chair of BRICS for 2020.



3.COVID-19 India facilitates $150 million foreign currency swap facility to the Maldives 

On April 28, 2020, Coronavirus (COVID 19) is causing terrible havoc in the country and the world at this time. In such a situation, India is coming forward to help less capable countries in fighting COVID 19. In this sequence, India has extended $ 150 million foreign currency swap support to the Maldives to help reduce the impact of the virus.



4. Government establishes IFSCA to regulate all financial services in IFSCs 

The Central government notified that it has established International Financial Services Centres Authority(IFSCA), a unified body to regulate all financial services in International Financial Services Centres(IFSCs) in the country its headquarters will be at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.


5.ADB approves $346mn loan for Maharashtra to electrify rural agriculture customers 


On April 29, 2020, Asian Development Bank (ADB), is a regional development bank, has approved a loan worth of $346 million (around Rs 2,616 crore) for the government of Maharashtra to provide reliable power connection in rural areas of the state, where the labour force is mostly engaged in agriculture and related activities.



6. International Dance Day 29 April

International Dance Day is celebrated every year on 29 April.it marks the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre, the creator of modern ballet. The day was created in 1982 by the dance committee of the International theatre institute partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. This day also engages in encouraging participation and education in dance.




7.Near-Earth asteroid 1998 OR2 to pass within 3.9m miles of Earth: NASA

On April 29, 2020, According to The National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) asteroid 1998 OR2 a large near-Earth asteroid, measuring about 1.5-mile-wide (2-kilometer-wide) will pass by earth within 3.9 million miles (6.3 million kilometres), which is about 16 times farther away than the moon.



8. IIT-Roorkee professor develops software to detect COVID-19 within 5 seconds using X-ray scan

Kamal Jain, professor at Civil Engineering Department, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology)- Roorkee, Uttarakhand, has developed a software which can detect COVID-19 within 5 seconds using x-ray scan of the suspected patient.



9. India lost hosting rights of 2021 Men's World Boxing Championships to Serbia: AIBA 

On April 28, 2020, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) terminated an agreement with India, signed in 2017, which resulted in the loss of hosting rights of 2021 men’s world boxing championship by the latter to Serbia.



10. The largest hole in ozone layer is closed now
The Copernicus Climate change service and Copernicus Atmosphere monitoring service, by the European Centre for medium-range weather forecasts, confirmed that the largest hole in the ozone layer above the Arctic has closed. The ozone layer is a protective layer of gas in the stratosphere. It shields the planet from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation.
